The Riley house was one of a dozen designs for permanent prefabricated houses developed in 1946 and 1947 by architects and builders with the help of the Ministry of Works. Some, like the British Iron and Steel Federation (BISF) house, were built in thousands. Others, like the Riley house seen here, never got past the prototype stage.
