Between September 1945 and March 1946 Sweden exported 5,000 prefabricated houses to England and 2,100 to France. The design was adapted by the Ministry of Works from a standard Swedish kit, and the first of the houses was built at Abbots Langley, Hertfordshire, in January 1946. The all-timber houses arrived in flat sections at docks all over England.
