During the First World War a programme of concrete shipbuilding was undertaken by the Concrete Seacraft Company and also Messrs Hughes and Stirling who leased an area of Albert Dock, Preston. Here the prefabricated frame of the ship "Cretemanor" is being assembled at the Concrete Seacraft Company site in Warrington.
